We arrived in Bali late at night after a 6 hour flight (which felt longer, so excited we were) and were off the plane and into our hotel transfer within 30 minutes. We received a cool bottle of water and I stared out of the window as we drove 15 minutes to La Villais Executive Spa and Villas. The drive from the airport is pretty much like any drive, and reminded me a lot of Phuket – big warehouse type shops, a lot of construction sites, and general ugly architecture. However we got past that and once we were on the small back roads towards the villa we saw a little glimpse at small house compounds and rice paddies mixed in with super boutique villa complexes.
Seminyak is quite spread out with a mixture of expensive boutiques and restaurants, cafes, touristy shops and markets, and of course the beach!
While our villa was in a quiet area, it was a little far from where central Seminyak was. We don’t mind walking, however with a lack of footpaths it can be a little dangerous walking on the road with the local traffic.
While there are many boutiques and gorgeous cafes to visit in Seminyak, I felt I could have been anywhere. Noosa, Karon Beach, Surfers…….. That being said, we enjoyed some great meals, and were surprised by the style of one particular (touristy) cafe – Trattoria.
